This past year, you have witnessed the implementation of SF MTA’s Upper Market Safety Project. The final phase is the beautification phase and installation of uplighting on the Market Street palm trees. This uplighting has been a dream of residents, merchants, and visitors for decades and it is finally happening! However, the city only agreed to install the uplighting if the Castro CBD would agree to pay for the electricity to power the lights. This lighting will be a powerful contribution to our Upper Market corridor. Rainbow for PRIDE month and changing to other colors throughout the year.
