In 2022 SFMTA made safety improvements on Market St. from Octavia to Castro. The final phase was the beautification phase and installation of uplighting on the Market Street palm trees. This uplighting has been a dream of residents, merchants, and visitors for decades. The CBD negotiated with the city to include the installation of the infrastructure for the uplighting. The city brought electricity to the Market St. medians and installed the fixtures. The Castro CBD agreed to pay for the electricity to power the lights. This lighting is a powerful contribution to our Upper Market corridor. Rainbow for PRIDE month and changing to other colors throughout the year. The sponsors and donors below launched the project with funding for the first round of electricity payments. We are so thankful for your faith in us and your support!
